Abstract
Medical records of 11 patients admitted over a ten-year period at the DLSUMC managed for congenital abdominal wall defects were reviewed, in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of the institution. Derived data analyzed through descriptive statistics. Newborns with gastroschisis (n=6) in this institution had lower birthweights, head circumference and were born premature to young primigravid mothers. Findings are consistent to that of other studies. Comparable to other studies, those with omphalocele (n=5) were born to primigravid mothers. However, in contrast to other studies, they had normal birthweights appropriate for gestational age and young maternal age was not a contributing factor.
