A case of pulmonary embolism leading to acute myocardial infarction in the first trimester of pregnancy

Abstract

A 38 year old G2P1 (1-0-0-1) on her 11 to 12th week age of gestation presents with severe low back pains and seemingly acute bronchial asthma attacks caused by pulmonary embolism. Despite adequate analgesics and asthma medications, only slight improvement was noticed. Prior to discharge, patient experiences chest pains and loss of consciousness interpreted as an episode of myocardial infarction resulting from the abovementioned emboli.
