Abstract
P-pop has become a strong cultural force among Filipino youth because of its mix of easy-to-remember tunes, dance movements and themes young people can relate to. Because students are often involved with P-pop through music and the internet, people wonder about its possible effect on learning. This study seeks to find out the perceived impact of Frequency of P-pop engagement on Senior High School students' academic performance in the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute. It analyses their demographic profiles, level of P-pop engagement in terms of music consumption and online content they access and the influencing factors as well as how the P-pop engagement affects their academic performance. A descriptive quantitative design was used for this study and was conducted among the De La Salle Medical Health and Sciences Institute Senior High School students in Dasmariñas City, through disseminating an online quantitative survey of semi-structured and self-made questions. Along with this, descriptive statistics was used in analyzing the gathered data. The results show that in terms of music consumption, students’ engagement with P-pop is moderate, while students have a slight engagement with P-pop in terms of online content viewing. The overall perceived impact is moderate. This means that although it has significance, it does not directly contribute to a student’s academic performance.
