Abstract
This study investigated the perceived impact of ChatGPT usage on academic confidence and problem-solving strategies among Special Health Sciences Senior High School students at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute. As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes more common in education, understanding how AI tools influence students’ learning experiences has become increasingly important. The study examined key variables including usage frequency, perceived ease of use, and intention to use ChatGPT, and analyzed their relationship with students’ academic confidence and problem-solving strategies. Using a descriptive-correlational research design, survey data were collected from senior high school students enrolled in the DLSHSI. Results revealed that usage frequency showed a significant positive relationship with academic confidence, indicating that students who use ChatGPT more frequently tend to feel more academically confident. The findings show that using AI tools carefully can boost students’ academic confidence and help them solve problems better. The study recommends further exploration of AI literacy and structured implementation of AI tools using a qualitative approach. It also suggests that teachers and schools can use these insights to carefully integrate AI in learning, helping students stay independent, engaged, and maintain academic integrity.
