Abstract
In our modern-day world, advanced technologies, such as fitness trackers, have gained popularity to track our health. These fitness trackers have many different applications that aid in monitoring and improving one’s health. The study analyzed the health beliefs and experiences of fitness tracker users on health apps through smartwatches through a survey. It is divided into six parts, which are perceived benefits, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived barriers, cues to action, and experiences of users. The most common responses for the following: the most useful feature is vital signs monitoring with a mean score of 4.35, the goal-setting feature makes them less susceptible to illnesses with a mean score of 3.90, the fitness tracking feature leads to less severe illnesses with a mean score of 3.96, seeing the improvement of others’ health makes them want to use health apps on smartwatches with a mean score of 4.06, health apps on smartwatches aid in health awareness and track health with 18 responses, they may have data reliability inconsistency issues with 22 responses, they have user-friendly information with 37 responses, and they are accessible and user-friendly with 18 response. Overall, the study concludes that the health beliefs and experiences of fitness tracker users on health apps on smartwatches are mostly positive. Since the study was about the perception and experiences of users, further research is needed to go deeper and explore how these health apps can affect one’s self-esteem and self-confidence.
