Abstract
People often assume that health-allied students lead healthy lifestyles and are health-conscious because of their exposure to health and nutrition education in the medical field. But awareness and knowledge are choices made by individuals. This correlational quantitative research examines the level of general nutrition awareness among health-allied students and its relationship to their reading and use of nutrition labels since there are limited studies about healthallied students despite being in the healthcare field. The research involved 241 students aged 16–19 from the senior high school department of DLSMHSI. The study used an online questionnaire and a 5-point Likert scale to assess their awareness, reading, and label use. The results showed that sociodemographic information, such as gender, had a positive relationship with the students' level of general nutrition awareness. However, age and economic status did not. The correlation between general nutrition awareness and reading and label use was significant, indicating that the participants generally have full awareness of general nutrition. Future studies should include qualitative components for a deeper understanding of certain variables. The findings may encourage the education and political sectors to improve nutrition education for adolescents.
