Abstract

Children in early ages are the most likely to get infected with diarrhea for they are not yet fully aware of their surroundings, the food they ingest, the water they drink, and even proper hygiene. All of these can be achieved through proper parent’s guidance. One of the common diseases most children acquire is diarrhea. It is characterized by having loose watery stools. This study aimed to identify the predisposing factors of diarrhea in Brgy. Sampaloc III, Dasmarinas, Cavite, and to determine the reasons for most cases of diarrhea in children aged 1 to 6 years old in the area. Data needed for the study were collected through survey method, the demographic data, environmental status, quality of food and water, waste disposal and immunization of children. Statistical analysis was employed to examine the results of the study. 53 out of 100 children were diagnosed with diarrhea. Numerous factors were identified; some of them are promising but the statistics shows that most data collected are statistically insignificant.
