Abstract

this study, the anti-angiogenic effect of the leaves of M. oleifera is compared with naproxen Sodium tablets by observing the collaterals in the chorioallontoic membrane of 10-day duck embryos. The preparation of the leaf extract involved: cleansing with distilled water, air-dried, crushed and macerated in 85% ethanol for 15 hours. The extract was filtered and went through the rotary evaporator. The preparation of the naproxen sodium extract involved grinding five 550 mg tables, mixed with ethyl acetate and HCL and put under the laminar flow hood. Four treatments of each extracts were prepared: T0= pure distilled water, T1= 100 ppm, T2= 200 and T3= 300 ppm, calculated using the dilution-stock solution method. The treatments were administered using a sterile syringe into the chorioallontoic membrane of the duck embryos, utilizing 40 eggs per extract. After two days of incubation, the chorioallontoic membrane was harvested and the collaterals were manually counted and observed under a compound microscope. Results reveal that the most concentrated treatment showed the most angiogenesis inhibition and that naproxen sodium is more effective than Moringa oleifera. However, Moringa oleifera shows great potential in the medical field.
