Abstract
The study employed experimental research design. The citrus hystrix (Kaffir lime)'s essential oil was extracted from the Pharmaceutical laboratory of the Department of Science and Technology and the stock culture of Aspergillus niger was obtained from the Standards and Testing Division laboratory of the same department, wherein the antimicrobial testing was also conducted. Results revealed that all the replications of Citrus hystrix (Kaffir lime)'s essential oil were proven to have a complete inhibitory activity rating with a Severe Reactivity Rating which indicated that the zone extended greater than 10 mm beyond specimen. Citrus hystrix (Kaffir lime) essential oil showed significant antifungal properties against Aspergillus niger due to its high inhibitory activity and severe reactivity suggests that it can further be used on infections caused by the fungi.
