Abstract
study utilized true experimental research design. Samanea saman leaves were subjected to aqueous and ethanolic extraction using water bath and rotary evaporator. Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method was used to determine the antibacterial activity of the extract. The results of the study show that the aqueous extract exhibits the largest zone of inhibition with a mean of 17 mm on Staphylococcus aureus. This shows the potency of Samanea saman as possible component of herbal medicine against S. aureus. However, aqueous and ethanolic extracts failed to elicit any measurable inhibition of the Escherichia coli.
