Abstract
The objective of the study was to determine if there was a significant difference of anger expression between patients with controlled and uncontrolled hypertension in De La Salle University Medical Center Out-Patient Department, Dasmariñas City, Cavite 2014. The study was based on an analytical, observational, cross-sectional research design. One hundred nine (109) patients 30 years old and above with controlled hypertension and 109 patients 30 years old and above with uncontrolled hypertension was selected using stratified random sampling. A self-made questionnaire was used as instrument and data was analyses using frequency, percentage, Chi-square, and mean. Findings of the study revealed that from the sample size of 218, 47 out of the 109 controlled hypertensive patients of DLSUMC OPD were characterized to have an anger in type of expression while the remaining 62 are anger-out. On the other hand, 56 out of the 109 uncontrolled hypertensive patients were regarded to as anger-in while the remaining 53 were anger-out.
