Abstract

Demographic variables included the age, location, monthly family income, educational attainment and marital status. This study used descriptive method employing the survey technique. Using quota sampling technique, a total of 358 women ages 20 and above were included as respondents of the study. The study was conducted in Brgy. Mabolo, Bacoor, Cavite. The survey was accomplished using a self-made questionnaire validated by the professors from the college of Medical Radiation Technology of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute and an Obstetrician-Gynecologist from Cavite Medical Center. Data gathered was treated using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and ANOVA. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are obtained: (1) most of the respondents are 20 to 29 years old from Mabolo II, belonged to the monthly family income group of 10,000 pesos and below, obtained high school level of education and are married; (2) most of the respondents are aware to a moderate extent on the risk factors of breast cancer; (3) the level of awareness on the risk factors of breast cancer of the respondents has a significant difference when they are grouped according to location. On the other hand, the level of awareness of the respondents has no significant difference when they are grouped according to age, monthly family income, educational attainment and marital status.
