Abstract

The study was conducted in Barangays Anabu II-F, Anabu II-B, Alapan I-A, Carsadang Bago II, and Buhay na Tubig. The identified barangays are known to have high cases of dengue fever in Cavite. The descriptive correlation method was used in the analysis and interpretation of the result in the study. Out of 68, 715 residents in the five (5) selected barangays of Imus City, Cavite, 400 respondents were selected through quota sampling. A self-made questionnaire which underwent content validity and reliability test was used to gather the needed data. The data obtained was treated using the following statistical tools: mean, standard deviation, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Based on the results, (1) most of the respondents are middle adulthood (26 to 33 years old), females who are usually mothers and college graduates; (2) most of the respondents have high level of knowledge in terms of the prevention and control of dengue fever; (3) the respondents have very high level of practices in terms of different ways of preventing dengue fever. On the other hand, respondents have a high level of practices on different control measures; (4) The knowledge prevention of the respondents has the same extent regardless of their age and gender but differs of education attainment and place of residence; (5) the practices on prevention of the respondents were the same regardless of their age and gender but differ in terms of educational attainment and place of residence; (6) there is no correlation between knowledge and practices on prevention of dengue fever. However, the correlation between knowledge and practices on control of dengue fever shows a low degree of correlation.
