Abstract

This study explored the perspectives of Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRT) students at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute (DLSMHSI) regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in completing their academic requirements. With AI tools becoming increasingly integrated into educational settings, the research sought to assess students’ perceptions of the ease of use and usefulness of these technologies. It also aimed to determine whether these perceptions varied according to sex and year level. The study utilized a quantitative descriptive survey design and gathered data from 373 first-, second-, and third-year BSRT students through a validated questionnaire. The findings revealed that students generally perceived AI tools as both easy to use and highly useful in supporting their academic activities. Respondents particularly valued AI for helping organize academic tasks, improve writing quality, and simplify the understanding of complex concepts. The results also indicated significant differences in perceived ease of use when students were grouped according to sex and year level. Male students and those in the third year demonstrated greater confidence and comfort in using AI tools compared to their counterparts. However, no significant differences were found in perceived usefulness, suggesting that students across all groups recognized the benefits of AI in education. The study concluded that while AI is widely accepted as a valuable academic resource, levels of confidence and familiarity with its use are influenced by demographic factors. Therefore, educational institutions should encourage responsible AI use and provide additional support to lower-year students to strengthen digital literacy and ensure equitable access to technology.
