Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the influencing factors on the preferred career specialization among radiologic technology students of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute. This study used descriptive research design. Data was gathered using a self-made questionnaire and distributed through on-site and online survey platform. The data is treated using statistical tools such as, frequency distribution, percentage, mean, Mann- Whitney U test, and chi-square test. Findings in the study shows that most of the respondents are female and had their internship in private hospitals during the first semester of A.Y. 2023-2024. Furthermore, majority of the respondents chose computed tomography, general radiography, and magnetic resonance imaging as their preferred specialization of choice. It is evident that the factors under self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and personal goals have high influence to the respondents in choosing their preferred career specialization. The study also revealed that there are no significant differences on the preferred career specialization when the respondents are grouped according to sex and hospital assignment. Additionally, there are no significant differences on the influencing factors on the preferred career specialization when the respondents are grouped according to sex and hospital assignment. Thus, concluding that the preferred career specializations and the influencing factors on the preferred career specialization do not vary with sex and hospital assignment.
