Abstract
The study was conducted to determine the challenges encountered in Research Writing by the radiologic technology students of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute during AY 2021-2022. This study utilized a descriptive research design. A total of 87 respondents participated in the study. Data were gathered using a self-made questionnaire and treated using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and independent sample t-test.
Majority of the respondents are female students. Thesis adviser-, student-, and institutional-related challenges were moderately encountered by the respondents. The challenges most frequently encountered in relation to a thesis adviser are the inability to guide student researchers in the interpretation of statistical results and the promptness in returning feedback, thus causing delays in finalizing the manuscript. In student-related, the output quality of each member is certainly a challenging aspect that pushes other members of the team to double the effort they exert. The institutional-related issues dealing with the promptness of the college and institutional Turnitin report, the sufficiency of time given prior to application for thesis defense, and the availability of relevant resources in the library in relation to research were identified as moderately challenging. The challenges encountered in research writing by the respondents do not significantly vary when they are grouped according to sex.
