Abstract
This study was undertaken to determine the common health beliefs of selected respondents in barangay Burol Main in Dasmariñas and barangay Poblacion II in Mendez, Cavite. These studies analyzed the level of beliefs of the respondents and were compared when grouped by age, gender, religion, civil status, presence of older person at home, educational attainment, and geographical location. Specifically, it aimed to know the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, religion, civil status, presence of older person at home, educational attainment and geographical location, the health beliefs of the selected residents of barangay Burol Main in Dasmariñas and barangay Poblacion II in Mendez, the significant differences in the health beliefs of the respondents when they are grouped according to age, gender, religion, civil status, presence of older person at home, educational attainment and geographical location. This study made use of the descriptive non-experimental method. This method involves the collection, presentation and characterization of a set of data in order to properly describe the different features of the set of data. This method established the profile of the respondents, the level of the different health beliefs, and the relationship between the levels of this belief when the respondents were grouped by age, gender, religion and civil status, presence of older person at home, educational attainment and geographical location. The statistical tools that were employed to analyze the data in this study were the frequency, percentage, mean, t-test, and the ANOVA or F-test. Based on the findings of the study, it can be concluded that majority of the respondents were 15 to 25 years old, male, Catholics, single, were living with an elderly person at home, high school graduates, and came from Mendez, Cavite. The respondents were doubtful (sometimes believe/sometimes do not believe) of the different health beliefs of the residents in selected barangays in Dasmariñas and Mendez Cavite. The study revealed that the health beliefs of the respondents had a significant difference when grouped by age. Older residents had higher level of belief than younger residents. The study revealed that the health beliefs of the respondents had a significant difference when grouped by gender. Female respondents had higher level of belief than male respondents. The study revealed that the health beliefs of the respondents had a significant difference when grouped by religion. Catholic respondents had higher level of belief than non-Catholic respondents. The study revealed that the health beliefs of the respondents had no significant difference when grouped by civil status. The respondents of different status had the same level of health belief. The study revealed that the health beliefs of the respondents had no significant difference when grouped by presence of an older person at home. Respondents living with an older person at home or not had the same level of health belief. The study revealed that the health beliefs of the respondents had no significant difference when grouped by educational attainment. Respondents with different educational attainment had the same level of health belief. The study revealed that the health beliefs of the respondents had a significant difference when grouped by geographical location. Respondents from Mendez, Cavite had higher level of belief than respondents from Dasmariñas, Cavite.
