Abstract

The study involved descriptive-documentary analysis of grades in Seminar 1 and in the internship program. Subjects of the study were nine (9) male and 12 female students selected using purposive sampling technique. They were 4th year regular students in first semester school year 2001-2002 and took up their internship training at two (2) private hospitals and one (1) government hospital. Data was obtained through documentary analysis of records of grades in academic performance to determine academic and internship performance. Frequency count, percentage, t-test and Pearson product moment correlation were the statistical analysis techniques applied. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of respondents were female and had taken their internship training in private hospitals; 2) The respondents had fair and good performances in Seminar 1 and internship program, respectively. Their performances were homogenous. The respondents' performances in the variables were mediocre; 3) The was no significant difference in the performance in seminar 1 when the respondents are grouped according to gender, but there was significant difference in the performance in seminar 1 when the respondents are grouped according to hospital assignment; 4) There were no significant differences in the internship performance when the respondents are grouped according to gender and hospital assignment. Performance in seminar 1 was predictive of the internship performance.
