Abstract

This study aimed to determine the degree of prevalence of signs and symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome among ultrasonographers and ultrasonologists in Metro Manila and their differences when grouped according to age, gender, length of service, and number of patients handled per day. Using descriptive research. It involved five (5) private hospitals and three (3) diagnostic clinics composed of 62 ultrasonographers and sonologists. The instrument used was a close-ended self-made questionnaire. The statistical tools employed in the study were frequency distribution, percentage and chi-square test. The researchers concluded that majority of the respondents were female at an age of 21-35 years old working four (4) years and above and handling 16 patients and above per day. Almost half of the respondents were not experiencing signs and symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome but some of them experienced low degree of prevalence of signs and symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. The degree of prevalence of signs and symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome is not significantly associated with age, gender, length of service, and number of patients handled per day.
