Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine factors related to the academic performance in Algebra among the first year Radiologic Technology students of De La Salle University - Emilio Aguinaldo College during first semester of the SY 1991-1992. A devised rating scale was used to gather data. The scale contained 72 items, 26 items related to the environment, 22 items related to the teacher and 24 items related to the student himself. Based on the finding of this study, it can be viewed that the students encountered difficulty in the study of Algebra due to three factors: the environment, the teacher and the student himself, as highly affecting the academic success in Algebra. Obviously, more help was needed by the first year Radiologic Technology students in problems related to the student himself then to the environment and to the teacher.
