Abstract

This study sought to determine the association of teacher - student relationship with the academic performance of second year Radiologic technology students in De La Salle University - Emilio Aguinaldo College, 1st semester, SY 1991-1992. It aimed to answer the following specific questions: (1) What is the level of relationship exists between the second year Radiologic Technology students and their teachers in De La Salle University _ Emilio Aguinaldo College, first semester SY 1991, as evaluated by the students? (2) Are there differences in teacher-student relationship when the respondents are grouped according to sex, age, and family income? (3) What is the academic performance of second year Radiologic Technology students during the first semester school year 1991-1992? (4) Are there differences in the academic performance of the respondents when they are grouped according to sex, age and family income? (5) Are there differences in the academic performance of the respondents when they are grouped according to the level of their relationship with their teachers? This study utilized the descriptive survey method, in order to describe the teacher-student relationship of second year Radiologic Technology student in De La Salle University-Emilio Aguinaldo College, first semester, school 1991 and its association with their academic performance. A sample of 117 Radiologic Technology students of De La Salle University - Emilio Aguinaldo College of which was 78 percent of the total population of 150 was used in this study. A questionnaire was developed by the researchers to gather the following pertinent data from each respondents: a) sex b) age c) family income. An analysis of the records of the Radiologic Technology students, first semester, SY 1991 was conducted to determine the scholastic ratings of the Radiologic Technology students used in this study. The questionnaire was subjected to face validation of some educators in De La Salle University-Emilio Aguinaldo Collge,College of Radiologic Technology. The following statistical measurements were used in this study: (1) The mean was used to determine the following: a) the level of teacher-student relationship, b) teacher-student relationship according to sex, c) teacher-students relationship according to age, d) teacher-student relationship according to family income, e) academic performance, f) academic performance according to sex, g) academic performance according age, h) academic performance according to family income, i) academic performance according to teacher-student relationship. (2) The median was also used to determine the level of teacher-students relationship
