Abstract
The main objective of this study is to investigate the correlation of academic performance of Radiologic Technology graduates of DLSU-A, Board of Examination years 1992 and 1993. Specifically, this study aimed to: (1) Find out the academic performance of Radiologic Technology graduates of DLSU-A, Board Examination years 1992 and 1993. (2) Find out the clinical performance of the respondents. (3) Find out the performance of the respondents. (3) Find out the performance of the respondents in board examination, years 1992 and 1993. (4) Determine the correlation between the academic performance in college (C-GPA) and performance in board examination. (5) Determine the correlation between clinical performance and performance in board examination. (6) Determine the correlation of the weighted linear combination of academic performance and clinical performance in college to performance in board examination. This study involved the thirty six (36) board examinees of BSRT of DLSU-A, Board Examination Years 1992 and 1993. Twenty eight (28) of 77.78% of all the board examinees of DLSU-A passed and eight (8) or 22.22% failed the board examination. Though the eight (8) students failed, their academic performance were on the average level. A documentary analysis was conducted to get the data on academic performance, clinical performance and performance in board examination. In the analysis of data gathered, the percentage, mean and correlation coefficient were the main statistical treatments used in the study. The mean was used to determine the following: a) academic performance in college; b) clinical performance; and c) performance in the board examination. The correlation coefficient was used to determine the correlation between a) academic performance and board examination performance, b) clinical performance and board examination performance and c) weighted linear combination of academic and clinical performance to board examination performance. This study has concluded that those who had gained a passing mark in their board examination also got a passing grade in their academic performance . In accordance with their clinical performance, the respondents with an average rate in the board examination also got an average grade in their clinical internship. But then, clinical performance can only slightly predict their performance in the board examination and has no significance in passing it. Still, academic performance is the best predictor of the performance in board examinations.
