Abstract

The main objective of this study is to determine if there is a relationship between learning attitudes and academic performance of the senior radiologic technology students of De La Salle University-Aguinaldo, SY 1995-1996. Specifically this study aimed: (1) to find out the learning attitudes of senior radiologic technology students of De La Salle University -Aguinaldo , SY 1995-1996. (2) to determine the academic performance of the respondents. (3) to find out if there is any significant differences in learning attitudes and academic performance when the respondents are grouped according sex and socio-economic status. (4) to find out if there is a correlation between the academic performance and the level of learning attitudes of the respondents. The study was conducted at De La Salle University - Aguinalldo in Dasmariñas, Cavite. A total of 64 senior radiologic technology students of SY 1995-1996 were used as respondents in this study, 32 males and 32 females. The data were collected from the respondents by using two instruments, questionnaire and documentary analysis.The questionnaire was developed by the researchers to gather the data regarding the students individual learning attitudes. The documentary analysis was conducted in order to receive the internship grades of the students during the internship program. The data were tested using the mean, t-test, and correlation analysis Based on the findings gathered in this investigation the following conclusions were drawn: (1) In type A of the question, the senior radiologic technology students had a good learning attitudes, while in type B of the questionnaire, they have a fair learning attitude. (2) The senior radiologic technology had a good academic performance . (3) As to the difference in learning attitudes when the respondents were grouped according to sex, there were no significant difference in the learning attitudes when the respondents were grouped according to sex. (4) there was no significant differences in learning attitudes when grouped according to sex, the mean of the male overall response is slightly higher than the females. It was found out that there was a significant difference between GPA of the male and female population. The GPA of the males was greater than that of the females. (6) With regard to the socio-economic status, the null hypothesis of no difference in academic performance according to socio-economic status is not rejected. (7) There was a correlation between academic performance and the level of the learning attitudes of the respondents.
