Abstract
This study aimed to determine the problems encountered in thesis writing and its effects to the quality of theses produced by the senior Radiologic Technology students in De La Salle University - Aguinaldo SY 1994-1995. Specifically, it sought to determine the problems encountered by the graduate students in relation to the choice of thesis topic, the thesis adviser, library facilities and resources, mechanics and style in writing the thesis, gathering and interpretation of data, oral examination, revision of thesis and financial support, The thesis writing performance of the respondents. The significant relationship between the problems encountered and the quality of theses produced by the respondents in terms of their grades in thesis writing. The study made use of the descriptive method considering the nature of the problems. The main data gathering instrument was the adapted questionnaire subjected to face validation with some members of the faculty and distributed to the respondents. The mean was used to determine the most prevalent problems encountered by the respondents in thesis writing. The frequency distribution was also used as the basis in computing the mean of the respondents' grades in thesis writing. The Z-test was used to determine the significant relationship between the problems encountered and the quality of theses produced by the respondents in terms of their grades in thesis writing. Based from the findings gathered in this study, it can be viewed that most of the identified were considered moderately serious by the respondents. Only one problem was considered less serious by them. As a whole, the problems identified were considered moderately serious by the respondents and therefore, the grades in thesis writing by the respondents were affected. The respondents performed not so well in their thesis writing based on the grades given by their thesis professor. The problems they encountered were related to the quality of theses produced by the respondents in terms of their grades in thesis writing.
