Abstract

This study sought (1) To determine the motivational factors affecting selection of a course and academic achievement of Associate in Radiologic technology students Batch 1993-1994 and Batch 1994-1995 of De la Salle University - Aguinaldo. Specifically, this study aimed: (1) To find out the level of motivation of the Associate in Radiologic Technology students Batch 1993-1994 and Batch 1994-1995 of De La Salle University -Aguinaldo. (2) To determine the level of academic achievement of the two groups. (3) To determine if there is significant relationship between the level of motivation of the two groups of respondents. (4) To find out if there are differences in the academic achievement level of the two groups of respondents. This study covered the motivational factors in the selection of course between the Associate in Radiologic Technology students Batch 1993-1994 and Batch 1994-1995 and their academic achievement. Level of the two groups of respondents.This study covered the motivational factors in the selection of course between the Associate in Radiologic Technology students Batch 1993-1994 and Batch 1994-1995 and their academic achievement. It involved 30 ART students from Batch 1993-1994 and 67 from Batch 1994-1995 with total of 97 respondents.The method used in this study was comparative and descriptive design. And descriptive design. The questionnaire which were sent through mails supplemented with interview were used as instruments to gather data. The statistical tool used to determine correlation between two groups of respondents was Spearmen Rho or rank Correlation Coefficient. Based on the findings, the following conclusions were made: (1) Most of the students in ART class '94 chose ART as their course because of their interest to the course. They wanted to develop their potential along this line. Using the course to go abroad for economic security was secondary. (2) The ART class '95 chose the course for economic reason and salary stability abroad. Service to mankind was secondary. (3) Both groups were affected in the influenced of the family and qualification in admission, hence a marked correlation existed in their choice of the course. (4) Most of the respondents in ART class '4 had good academic achievement while those of class '95 had satisfactory achievement. (5) There is no significant difference in the academic achievement level of both groups. Both groups had almost the same level of achievement.
