Abstract
The study used of the descriptive method. The respondents were 500 residents out of the total population of 7,350 of San Simon DBB-C Dasmarinas, Cavite selected using purposive sampling. Data was obtained using a self-made questionnaire and analyzed using mean, frequency, f-test (ANOVA), percentage, standard deviation and t-test. The following conclusions were drawn: 1) Majority of the respondents were female, 21-30 years old, attained high school level, had a monthly family income of P10,000 and below, unemployed and married; 2) The knowledge of most of the respondents was very good regarding management of common ailments; 3) Majority of the respondents’ practices on management of common ailments were interpreted ick as practiced to a moderate extent; 4) There was no significant difference in the knowledge of the respondents on management of common ailments in terms of age, gender, civil status and educational attainment. There was no significant difference in the practice of the respondents on management of common ailments in terms of civil status and educational attainment; 5) There was a significant in the knowledge of the respondents on management of common ailments in terms of monthly family income and employment status. There was a significant difference in the practice of the respondents on management of common ailments in terms of age, gender, monthly family income and employment status; 6) There was a very small negative correlation between the knowledge and practices of the respondents regarding management of common ailments.
