Abstract

A descriptive research design was used in the research study with a population of 256 barangay police, trained and untrained in Silang, Cavite. This study used purposive sampling technique. A two-part questionnaire was used. The first part is for demographic variables while the second part is a self-made questionnaire to measure the knowledge on basic first aid. The data gathered was subjected to statistical treatments such as frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test independent means and Analysis of Variance. Based on the findings of the study, the following conditions were drawn: 1) Respondents are mostly male, with an average of 51 years old, and are serving as barangay police for more than 2 years and most of them have undergone basic first aid training; 2) The respondents have a very good level of knowledge regarding first aid; 3) The respondents’ knowledge regarding first aid do not differ significantly among age groups, gender, length of service, and if they have training background.
