Abstract
This research study used descriptive correlational method. The researchers used a self-made questionnaire to determine the occurrence of and preventive health behavior on low back pain among radiologic technologists in selected hospitals in Manila and Cavite. A total of 125 radiologic technologists that are assigned in general radiology participated in the study. They were selected using stratified random sampling. The data were analyzed using mean, frequency, percentage, standard deviation, independent t-test, Analysis of Variance and Chi-square. The study concluded the following: 1) Majority of the respondents belong to adulthood group (25-39 yearls old), male respondents, with normal body weight, single and have a work experience of 1 to 3 years; 2) There is high occurrence of low back pain, at least once a month among the respondents; 3) Most of the respondents have good preventive health behavior; 4) There are no significant differences on the occurrence of low back pain among the respondents when grouped according to gender, body weight, civil status and work experience. The occurrence of low back pain may be because of other factors that do not have any relation with the respondents’ profile; 5) There is a significant difference in the frequency of the occurrence of low back pain among the respondents when grouped according to age. 6) There are no significant differences on the preventive health behavior among the respondents when grouped according to age, gender, body weight, civil status and work experience. The profile of the respondents does not affect their preventive health behavior; 7) There is a high significant relationship between the occurrence of and preventive health behavior on low back pain among the respondents.
