Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between job satisfaction and retention intention among rehabilitation professionals in Dasmariñas, Cavite. A quantitative correlational research design was used to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and retention intention without manipulating variables. The study was conducted in selected hospital, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and from individual rehabilitation professionals in Dasmariñas, Cavite, where a total of 31 licensed rehabilitation professionals, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists, participated in the study through purposive sampling method. The data were collected using a structured self-administered questionnaire consisting of a demographic survey, a self-made Job Satisfaction Questionnaire and Retention Intention Questionnaire both utilizing a 4-point Likert scale. The instruments underwent expert validation and pilot testing that demonstrated excellent reliability (Cronbach’s alpha: 0.970). Main outcome measures utilized for analysis included mean scores, standard deviations, and inferential statistics such as post-hoc test (Tukey), t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Findings revealed that respondents generally demonstrated high levels of job satisfaction and retention intention. There is no noted significant difference found in job satisfaction and retention intention when grouped according to socio-demographic variables. Furthermore, analysis showed a statistically significant positive relationship between job satisfaction and retention intention, indicating that higher job satisfaction is associated with stronger intention to remain in their current organization. The study concludes that job satisfaction plays a vital role in influencing retention intention among rehabilitation professionals, highlighting the importance of supportive organizational practices, professional development opportunities, and positive work environment to enhance workforce stability and long-term retention.
