Abstract
This study conducted at DLSU-A, inspired by the previous study regarding low back pain showed a 70% prevalence rate among the secretaries and clerks of the said university. The researchers used the descriptive design using a survey technique with a self-made questionnaire distributed to 49 secretaries and clerks chosen through simple quota sampling. The objective of the study was to determine the possibility of having a back hygiene program for these subjects. Certainly, this undertaking will serve as a revelation for both employees and administrations about the importance of low back hygiene on producing better work output. All questionnaires gathered, tallied and analyzed. The following results obtained, (1) the majority of the secretaries and clerks (78%) were willing to attend the back hygiene program. (2) The college of Physical Therapy implemented the program by providing a physiatrist and the necessary materials. An estimated cost of P2, 000.00 - 3,000.00 needed by the College as honoraria for those invited Physiatrist and collected from the Staff Development Fund. (3) The administration (Executive Vice President) supported the decision of the majority of the secretaries and clerks. Therefore, conclude, it was possible to implement a back hygiene program at DLSU-A, the researchers recommended this program implemented by the College of Physical Therapy.
