Abstract

This is a descriptive study on the effectiveness of the WHO Training Manual for Person's with moving Disability TP #9 (How to prevent Deformities of Person's Arms and Legs) when use in the community health workers of Barangay San Simon, Dasmariñas Cavite done in questionnaires and practical exam form. A five (5) respondents in Barangay San Simon, Dasmariñas, Cavite were included in the study. The results of all the written exams and performance evaluation of the CHWs were reviewed. These were the basis for determining the effectiveness and usefulness of the training manual used. All data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study showed a total of 77 correct answers in the post test as compared to 62 correct answers in pre-test showing an increase in the theoretical knowledge of all the CHWs on the rehabilitation of persons with moving difficulty. Four of the CHWs were able to understand the language used in the manual while only one was not able to understand. All of the subjects found the illustrations sufficient in the practical exams done, the CHWs excelled well and were able to put into practice the skills taught in the manual. The researchers therefore recommend that the WHO Training Manual be adopted as a basic technical document for initiating CBR and translated to the Filipino language in favor to those CHWs who did not reach the secondary level and CHWs who have not undergone training on this kind of manual. The researchers also suggests that to moving disability and that further field testing to other CHWs who are greater in number and exposed to different cases. They would recommend the manual but intensive training must be required.
