Abstract
Common pediatric impairments such as flatfeet, scoliosis, congenital clubfoot, genu valgum and genu varum are commonly seen in the rehabilitation clinic and by the time parents seek medical consultation a deformity is already present. This study was conducted with the objective of developing a training program that would help elementary school teachers on identification of potentially disabling pediatric impairments among their students and to determine the effectivity of the said training program developed by the researchers. Data was obtained thru questionnaire distributed to 48 respondents were elementary school teachers of Dasmariñas Bagong Bayan Elementary School A-I and results were presented in tables and were analyzed descriptively. The survey instrument used pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Data were gathered and interpreted using frequency percentage and mean. The results of the study showed that the training program developed by the authors proved to be effective based on answers given by the teachers during post-exam. Although effectivity of the manual is based only on short term recall, results showed that teachers still find it difficult to remember the consequences for every discussed pediatric impairment. It has been concluded that teachers of DBBES A-I has increased knowledge after the training program.
