Abstract
The work of PT interns requires various movement and high impact activities such as lifting or transferring dependent patients, providing manual resistance, and lifting heavy equipment. Thus, PT interns who treat are at risk of having musculoskeletal disorders. If this is taken for granted and left untreated this may hamper the working condition of the PT interns. In line with a survey which aims to determine the most common work-related musculoskeletal dis ordered among PT interns batch '98 of DIMDRU abd J.P. Rizal Rehabilitation clinic for the months of June to September 1997 , was conducted. Results of the study can be useful for PT interns and other member of the rehabilitation team. This can also be used to establish a preventive and/or therapeutic program that would lessen the occurrence of work related musculoskeletal disordered. Based on the data gathered by the researchers 40 out of 60 interns had musculoskeletal disorders, Low Back Pain (47.5%) and Myofascial Pain syndrome (45%) were the two most common work related musculoskeletal disorders among PT interns. Further study determining the diagnosed musculoskeletal disorder and number of months of clinical rotation could be done to form a concrete evaluation on the specific etiology and relieving factors, a possible formulation of an intensified prevention program to lessen the occurrence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders among PT interns could also be conducted.
