Chapter II Provides an amalgamation of previous research studies concerning industrial low back pain, mainly cited from foreign literature. The study is the first to be conducted in a local industrial setting. Relevant statistics on the incidence and occupational workplace factors were identified, including those conducted among different professional groups. Chapter III deals with the research methodology used in the study. A descriptive research design was utilized and applied to 400 employees of EMI_YAZAKI Company, age 17-45 y/o, randomly selected. Questionnaires were distributed to the sample population and later were analyzed by graphs. Chapter IV present a detailed analysis and interpretation of the data gathered which revealed that out of the 150 respondents, 108 (72%) reported low back pain, with the highest turnout of respondents falling falling under the 23-25 years old category. Some of the occupational factors identified in having the occurrence of low back pain, which showed a significant number of turnouts, were the frequent engagement in lifting heavy objects, the act of bending and twisting while working, and prolonged standing postures which the employees frequently assumed. Finally Chapter V summarizes the findings, conclusion and recommendations by the authors of the study to develop and publish an information program with a seminar-workshop on the basis, biomechanics and prevention of low back pain in the. workplace. Furthermore, a follow-up study on the effectivity of the low exercise and workshop seminar in minimizing the frequency or occurrence of low back pain is encouraged and recommended.
