Abstract

The study aimed to determine the occurrence of Low back pain among maintenance and housekeepers at the DLSU-hsc. Study population consisted of subjects 40 y/o and below. A total of 10 maintenance workers and housekeepers were qualified and the results of the study were as follows: 1) The occurrence of LBP among maintenance workers and housekeepers at the DLSU-HSC shows that 26-30 y/o age group has the highest incidence .It comprises about 40% of total population surveyed. This is followed by 21-25 age group (30%) , 16-20 y/o (20%) and the least were no housekeeper/ maintenance workers surveyed to 31-35 age group.2) Based on the assumed position when pain occurs is showed that 70% of maintenance workers and housekeepers surveyed experiences pain while standing, other positions include lying (10%), stooping (10%) and trung bending(10%). 3). Based on the activity when back pain is felt, 80% of the population studied reported occurrence of low back pain when cleaning and 30% occur when carrying.4) Based on the duration of employment of the maintenance workers and housekeepers, the highest incidence of LBR was among those who were employed for 6-8 mos (50%), 8-12 mos (20%), 1-2 yrs (10%), 3-5 yrs (10%) and more than 10 yrs (10%) 5) Based on the time when back pain felt , 50% of the population studied reported pain while working and 50% after working.
