Abstract
This is a descriptive study on Low Back Pain (LPB). LBP may be caused by a large variety of conditions such as: Musculoskeletal problems, other medical conditions ( Kidney Disorders, Pelvic problems etc.), occupational related factors, Abnormal postures and Obesity. This study deals with the factors that predispose the Tricycle Drivers to LBP. It determines the frequency of LBP among Tricycle Drivers in relation to the total number of hours they drive per day, positions exhibited by tricycle drivers while driving, and poor postural habits. The researchers conducted the study at Imus, Cavite having 150 trycicle drivers as sample. To determine the factors that predisposed to LBP, questionnaire method was used. After data gathering, all data were tallied and summarized into appropriate tables for analysis. Results of the study showed (1) 97 out of 150 (64.6%) assumed an improper posture when driving with the majority assuming a slouched posture. (2) Tricycle Drivers with 10 to 12 hours of driving per day had highest percentage of LBP which is 56%. More importantly, representing sample of drivers without back pain should also be evaluated. Likewise, rehabilitation medicine professionals are encouraged to educate drivers through body mechanics and back hygiene.
