Abstract

This study aimed to describe the most common physical disabilities that are present in Barangay San Nicholas Ruiz, Area C. Dasmariñas, Cavite. The data was collected using the questionnaire /interview method from 215 households with a study population of 1,290. The respondents were the heads of the households, but in their absence, any representative of legal age, from the same household may take his place. A check is placed before the number corresponding to the categories of physical disabilities present in the family. If more than 1 member of the household belong to a given category, a number is placed before the category. Data was tallied, tabulated and analyzed. Data showed that 184 out of the 1,290 study population has either single or multiple physical disabilities. Results also showed the following:1) 14.2% of the study population has a physical disability, 2) the most common [physical disability were in their middle adulthood (aging 41-65 yrs old), females , and non-working. The authors recommend that a community-based rehab program be established in barangay San Nicolas Ruiz, Area C, Dasmariñas, Cavite, and other communities, one that will provide the citizens affordable yet efficient PT services.
