Abstract
LBP has frequently been associated with a variety of occupations in the Philippines. It is frequently experienced by jeepney driver and office workers. This study is aimed to determine the common practices of the Bayan-Area C jeepney drivers for low back pain relief. Data were obtained through questionnaire and answered by 32 male subjects with low back pain. Fifty three percent of respondents experiencing LBP has ages between 31-40 y/o and 40% have been driving for about 7-9 years. Respondents mostly predisposed to recurrent LBP are those who have been driving for longer periods of hours in a day. All respondents did not take medication nor seek medical consultation for pain relief. The most common practices done by jeepney drivers to relieve their LBP were simple back stretching techniques massage, application of liniment and sleeping usually the supine lying position. The use of proper back support while driving, the proper footwear and proper body mechanics in standing and sitting are significant contributing factors to the recurrence of LBP.
