The subjects of the study were the residents of Brgy. Sta. Only 247 households (1,975 individuals) were used as the subjects. The results of the study showed that 218 (11%) individuals of the total population studied in Brgy. Sta. Functional disabilities were prevalent in 7-21 years old age group, mostly female students and noted with partial limitation on performance of activities of daily living. Most of the individuals with disability in Brgy. Sta. Cruz I had not yet consulted any medical practioner about their disabilities. With the help of the college of physical therapy, we may conduct patient education program on barangay social workers to make them more aware about functional disabilities and possible training to improve the life of individuals with disabilities. We could ask the Brgy. health center to have "Free Medical consultation Week" so that those individuals who have not yet consulted any doctor would have a chance to be evaluated by a medical practitioner. Through this awareness of their condition will be enhanced.
