Abstract
This study described the quality of care given to the patients in selected public rehabilitation centers namely Andres Bonifacio Memorial Hospital in Cavite, Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Hospital in Manila and Ospital ng Maynila. The research pointed out that each selected rehabilitation center has strong and weak points when it comes to providing quality of care. The objectives were: 1) to determine the modalities and equipment available in each selected rehabilitation centers; 2) determine patients satisfaction on each modality present as to cleanliness, effectiveness and manner of application; 3) determine patients satisfaction on equipment used in the respective rehabilitation centers as to its working condition and effectiveness; 4) determine if the patients are dealt professionally by their PT interns on the basis of a) proper orientation with regards to the function and used of modalities/equipment, b) respect, c) sensitiveness of PT interns to patient's needs, d) innovativeness of PT interns, e) time management as practiced by PT interns. The data were gathered through questionnaires answered by fifteen (15) patients in each rehabilitation centers. Data were then quantified and tabulated. Obtained results were then analyzed and interpreted. Results were as follows: the three selected public rehabilitation centers have the basic modalities available for patients' use. Effectiveness and manner of application on how the modalities were used in public rehabilitation centers were not compromised in terms of cleanliness. Physical therapist in public rehabilitation centers proved to be generally sufficient in addressing the needs of patients coming daily to the rehabilitation treatment. An excellent satisfaction rating given to the caring attitudes and expertise or professionalism of the health providers specifically the PT interns were a reassuring finding among rehabilitation centers. As a whole the study proved that public rehabilitation centers were capable and competent enough in providing quality care to their patient.
