Abstract

In every institution, the library is the venue for research and learning. Since the Library is vital in an institution for it caters to the knowledge-seekers, it is then very important that the standards of each should be of the highest rate since it is a knowledge provider. This study was conducted in DLSU-HSC libraries with the objective to describe the library physical facilities and 1999 book holdings of DLSU-HSC CPT based on the PACU-COA evaluation tool. It is limited only to the Physical Therapy proper students with inclusion of the Medicine students for the school year 1999-2000. Only the library physical faculties and 1999 book holdings of CPT was taken into consideration. A evaluation tool was secured, the researchers gave a copy to both chief librarians of DLSU-HSC. The researchers gave a copy to both chief librarians of DLSU-HSC. The researchers explained to the chief librarians the evaluation scale which would be based on the inventory conducted and completed by them. Data collected by the researchers were presented in tables and were analyzed descriptively as to the library physical facilities and 1999 book holdings of CPT in order to determine DLSU-HSC libraries' numerical score and current status on accreditation. Result showed that DLSU-HSC libraries yielded a high numerical score under library physical facilities and 1999 book holdings of PR based on PACU-COA evaluation tool. With the results obtained, it only indicates that DLSU-HSC, in the library category, is prepared for the upcoming accreditation of PACU-COA. The researchers recommended that this study be used as a reference by DLSU-HSC for future expansion and upgrading of the Angelo King Research Medical Center library and holdings provided by the institution.
