Abstract
The college of PT aspires to gain national and international respect and recognition. One way to achieve this goal is by performing well in the Philippine Physical Therapy Licensure Examination (PPTLE), that is now regarded as the ultimate measure of one's competence to practice PT as a Profession. Consideration is given by the determine if there is a relationship between the Academic Performance and passing the PPTLE of DLSU-HSC CPT Graduates of Batch 1999. A total of 90 out of 100 Graduates of DLSU-HSC CPT Batch 1999 who took the PTLE last August 1999 were included as respondents in the study. After evaluating and correlating the PTLE of the Graduates of Batch 1999 in relation to their third and fourth year academic performances, the researchers found out that the mean scores in their academic performance is higher than the mean of their board rating in any of the 3 subjects: Basic Sciences, Medical and Surgical Conditions and PT Application. This study showed that in 3 subject areas, graduates of Batch 1999 excels in MES having the highest mean score for the academic performance rating and Basic Sciences for PTLE rating. PT Application got the lowest mean score for both Academic and PTLE performances. Analysis of data showed a fair degree of correlation exists between academic and PTLE performance in Basic Sciences and MES, including the GWA of the respondents. While little or no correlation at all was noted between PT Application of the academic and PTLE results. The researchers, therefore concluded, that the academic performance of the Graduates of Batch 1999 has a fair significant relationship to the results of PTLE.
