Abstract

Internship program is a 10-month rotation in various rehabilitation and PT clinics. Part of the curriculum is a good clinic training program. With this, the author conducted a study on home-based and satellite affiliation centers of DLSU-HSC College of PT regarding the educational opportunities these centers can provide , namely hospital and clinical activities, PT treatment modalities, exposure to different to different cases and Patient load per day. The respondents were composed of 72 Interns of School year 2000-2001. 10% interns from ABMH, 7 from HBSFI, 10 from JPNMRC, 8 from NGH, 24 from DLSU-DPMR, 5 from SDJH. Data were gathered through questionnaires consisting of 4 categories: Patient load per day, Hospital and clinical activities, PT treatment modalities and exposure to different cases. The top 3 center with the most number of votes from the respondents are then recognized. Data were tailed and analyzed and the study showed that the top 3 Home-based and Satellite centers of DLSU-HSC College of PT are DLSU- DPMR, HBSFI, and JPRNMRC, because they can provide the most among the 4 categories studied. The authors also concluded that hospital and clinical activities vary inversely activities provided for interns. With this authors encourage the administration to continue supporting its affiliation centers and for the said centers to also continue the previous system and improve the other educational opportunities that were inadequate from the 4 categories studied . The authors also recommended the college and administrations to conduct further study in relation with our study that may be about the modalities utilized by the 7 Home-based and Satellite centers, if those are sufficient enough to provide a good treatment for the patients complying on the said centers.
