Abstract

Musculoskeletal problems are the leading cause of disability within the working population. Yet, despite the professed importance of prevention, most of the activities undertaken by the professions have been aimed in treating the symptoms. Due to widespread occurrence and effects of the musculoskeletal problems among teachers, the researchers conducted a survey on the 3 most common musculoskeletal complaints of the 3 Elementary Public Schools in Dasmariñas, Cavite namely: Dasmariñas Bagong Bayan-B Elementary Schools District I and Francisco E. Barzaga Memorial Elementary School. The study made use of an open-ended and close-ended questionnaire in order to elicit direct, unrestricted and unlimited answer and was limited to 30 teachers, 10 from each school. After analyzing the data descriptively, the researchers concluded that the 3 most common musculoskeletal complaints of elementary public school teachers in Dasmariñas, Cavite are Fatigue, "Pangangalay" and Pain. Musculoskeletal problems as stated are the leading cause of disability within the working population. This study was shown that the respondents do present some disabilities such as inability to finish their work on time, unable to concentrate and the feeling of tiredness.
