Abstract

The study sought to determine the relationship of Physical of Mental Stress to the development of Myofascial Pain Syndrome among PT Proper Students of Physical therapy Proper students study was conducted at De La Salle University-Health Sciences Campus Dasmariñas, Cavite and with ninety respondents from 3rd , 4rt and 5th year PT students of College of PT SY 2002-2003. A descriptive correlational design was utilized in this study since it was intended to describe the relationship of Physical and Mental Stress in the development of Myofascial Pain Syndrome among Physical Therapy Proper students. A questionnaire that contains items or activities that cause students to experience physical and mental stress which can lead to the development of Myofascial Pain Syndrome was utilized in the study. Physical Assessment was also used as to assess for the presence of the major and minor criteria for Myofascial Pain Syndrome. The main statistical treatments used in this study were frequency distribution and Person-7recorrelation was used in the study. Based on the gathered data, the researchers conducted that majority of the Physical Therapy students included in the study were 21 years old, female and right handed. Out of 90 respondents, 75% of the students are experiencing Physical and Mental stress. Physical and Mental stress has no significant relationship to the development of Myofascial Pain Syndrome among PT Proper Students of De La Salle University-Health Sciences Campus SY 2002-2003.
