Abstract

Many studies have examined work-related injuries among health care professionals and workers in general, there is little current literature that addresses incident of these injuries among Physical Therapists. We know little about the range of problems, their causes, the complications for affected therapists and their responses to these injuries. The study will focus to investigate unanswered questions about Physical Therapist and work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMD) and to provide a basis for further work expert to lead to developing preventive strategies. The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of occupational musculoskeletal injuries among Physical Therapist of selected rehabilitation centers in Metro Manila and province of Luzon. The researchers prepared a questionnaire, which was adopted from Holder et al (1999) research questionnaires were given personally to each respondent to ve answered and were collected after two weeks. The date collected was tallied, presented into tables and graphs. The data was gathered and each question was carefully analyzed and descriptively played into frequency distribution tables . As a result, among the 100 respondents 63 experienced occupational musculoskeletal injuries during their clinical practice in PT . After the study has been made, it was concluded that there was a high prevalence despite the knowledge and preventive technique.
