Abstract
There is various treatment approaches used to for rehabilitating patients from CVA. One of these is the use of NDT's. With an analytical retrospective design, this study aims to compare the effectiveness of Bobath and PNf in the functional improvement as to self-care activities, mobility and locomotion among patients with stroke. The researchers established the criteria for the subjects and sent letters of permission to use patients charts as source of data for the study to 3 rehabilitation centers in Cavite. A total of 28 MCA Thrombotic CVA patients within in age bracket of 40-80 yrs. old who has been active patients from jan. 1, 2000 to Dec. 31, 2003 qualified. FIM scores of the patients among with other variables were taken and applied with statistical computations and analysis. The result of the study shows that there is improvement on the FIM scores of the subjects of the teo intervention groups. However, there is no significant difference upon getting the mean difference of the initial and final FIM scores of both interventions. It only suggests that neither approach will be more effective than the other.
