Abstract
This descriptive study was conducted to determine the level of knowledge of PRISAA basketball players in 3 selected schools in Cavite regarding plyometric exercises. These 74 PRISAA basketball players from De La Salle-Dasmariñas University, De La Salle-Health Sciences Campus and University of Perpetual Help GMA were given a random administration of questionnaires concerning the general concept, preparation, criteria, components, parameters and progression of Plyometrics. From aged 17-25years old, 51 were male and 23 were female. In addition, four coaches were interviewed regarding Plyometric Training. analysis of data obtained revealed that 43.24% of the respondents were found to have moderate level of knowledge regarding the general concept of plyometrics while 21.62% and 35.14% had high and low levels of knowledge. However, majority of the respondents seem to be knowledgeable on the benefits of plyometrics and the importance of preparation, and pre-testing as part of plyometric exrcises. As indicated in the results, 25 of them had been exposed to plyometric training for 2 years, 17 for 1 year and 32 for less than a year, and the respondents claimed of the favorable gains they had on speed, endurance and strength that significantly in proved their level of performance. The authors concluded that the majority of the respondents seem to be knowledgeable of the benefits of plyometrics while on the other hand, the respondents have shown insufficient awareness on the general concept, parameters and progression of plyometric.
