Abstract
The descriptive study was conducted to determine the most common musculoskeletal deformity of children aged 4-6 years old in selected day care Centers in Dasmariñas, Cavite namely San Agustine III Day Care Centers, Hansel and Gretel Day Care Center, and Little Darling Day Care Center. A total of 232 respondents were included in the study, 17.24% of whom suffers from musculoskeletal deformity. Musculoskeletal deformity is common among children aged 6 years old (52.5%) and male respondents (70%). Results of the study showed that the cause of the deformities are mostly congenial and corresponds to 85% of the total respondents with musculoskeletal deformity. Thus the study included important details for the description of maternal history of the mothers, respondents with musculoskeletal deformity. Within the data gathered concerning maternal history the study revealed that during prenatal period, 5% of total mothers interviewed have history of illness during pregnancy, 20% took medication during pregnancy and 7.5% has history of trauma during pregnancy. the study also showed that during perinatal period, 37.5% of total interviewed mothers have normal delivery of their child and %% underwent caesarean operation. The study also presented that of postnatal period, which was 17.64% had history of trauma after birth, 35.29% had history of illness after birth, 11.76% had history of hospitalization and 94.11% had complete vaccination. the study then showed that the majority of the extremity 2(5%). the results of the study confirms that flat foot (65%) is the most common musculoskeletal deformity among children aged 4-6 in selected Day Care Centers in Dasmariñas, Cavite. Based on the results of the study, the researchers therefore conclude that flat foot deformity is the common musculoskeletal deformity among children aged 4-6 years old in selected Day Care Centers at Dasmariñas, Cavite with 65.% of the children having such musculoskeletal deformity.
