Abstract
This is a descriptive study aims to determine the level of clinical competencies of De La Salle-Health Science Institute Physical College of Physical therapy Interns Batch 2008 as to Professional Behavior, Patient Management and Global Rating of Student Competencies. A total of 86 interns were evaluated by the Clinical supervisors from 20 different centers of affiliation of the De La Salle-Health Science Institute College of Physical Therapy. A Clinical Performance Evaluation Tool was used to evaluate the capacity of the interns adapted from a study conducted at the University of Pittsburg by Fitzgerald, Lynn M. et.al., (Physical Therapy vol. 87 number 7, July 2007) entitled "Validation of the Clinical Internship Evaluation Tool". Results of the study showed that Physical Therapy Interns Batch 2008 demonstrated a High Level of Competency in terms of the Professional Behavior and Patient Management. The interns also demonstrated global competency by having a moderate possibility of the passing the local and international board examination and having a percentage of 95.34% in terms of performance satisfaction rate. In conclusion, the main objective of the study was satisfied. The level of clinical competencies of the De La Salle-Health Science Institute, College of Physical therapy was high in terms of the areas that were evaluated and that the interns also showed global competency by having a moderate possibility of passing the local and international board examinations and having a high percentage of performance satisfaction rate
